Installation

Follow these steps to install RD Renko (paid or free) in NinjaTrader 8.

Prerequisites

  • NinjaTrader 8 installed and running on your machine.
  • The RD Renko assembly file (.dll) — either from your purchase email or the free download.

Step 1 — Locate the AddOns folder

Open the NinjaTrader 8 installation directory. The custom AddOns folder is typically located at:

Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom\AddOns\

If the AddOns folder does not exist, create it.

Step 2 — Copy the assembly

Copy the downloaded .dll file into the AddOns folder:

  • Paid version: RD_Renko_BarsType.dll
  • Free version: RD_Renko_Free_BarsType.dll

Step 3 — Restart NinjaTrader

Close NinjaTrader 8 completely and reopen it. The platform will load the new bar type on startup.

Step 4 — Select the bar type

  1. Open a chart or create a new one.
  2. In the Data Series window, click the bar type dropdown.
  3. Select RD Renko (paid) or RD Renko Free from the list.
  4. Configure the parameters (see Parameters) and click OK.

Troubleshooting

Bar type not appearing?

  • Make sure the .dll file is in the correct AddOns folder.
  • Restart NinjaTrader after copying the file.
  • Check the NinjaTrader Log tab for any loading errors.

Getting an error on load?

  • Ensure you are running NinjaTrader 8 (not NT7).
  • Verify the file was not blocked by Windows — right-click the .dll, select Properties, and check "Unblock" if present.
